Every year, as I clear away the Christmas things, my mind turns to our next Advent box. It’s one of my very favourite parts of my job. This year I had pretty much decided on what project we were going to do (I won’t tell you as I may well use that idea next year) when I had a sudden brain wave. It was triggered as I was packing away my beloved Woodland Santa.
I bought our Woodland Santa when I was expecting Jenny and he was her most loved Christmas decoration throughout her life. Each year, as we started to decorate, we’d bring him down from the loft and feel that the festivities had really begun. He stands knee high to me and looks lovely by the fire, with his rustic clothes and ornaments.
I decided there and then that I wanted to create a crocheted version of him for our Advent21 box. So who else would I ask but our own Christmas girl, Kate Eastwood of Just Pootling? No one does the woodland look like Kate and it’s traditional now for her to design our Advent projects.
So we got to work. Photos were exchanged and long phone calls ensued as we discussed the design, the yarn etc.
All this has culminated in the most exquisite, heirloom project! We chose some really luxurious yarns from Rowan…Felted Tweed in muted, rich, woodland colours, Kidsilk Haze for Santa’s beard and fur trim. Of course being a Woodland Santa he has some beautiful accessories! He is carrying a stunning fresh cut Christmas Tree in one hand and a bucket of foraged gifts in the other. He has twinkling stars at his belt and tiny mice scamper over his shoulder. In my mind he is taking gifts to a family who live in a tiny cottage at the heart of the wood.
You’ll probably realise that I’m totally smitten with him…..as always, Kate made my dreams come to life.
So what will you receive in your Advent21 box? You’ll get all the beautiful yarn you need to complete Santa (and there’s LOTS of it!), lots of haberdashery to decorate him, your crochet hooks, bodkin, stunning stitch markers and lots of really gorgeous hand picked seasonal treats to enhance your enjoyment of this advent project. Last but not least you’ll get a beautiful book with the detailed patterns in. This way you can make Woodland Santa again over the years….he’ll make a fantastic heirloom gift for family and friends.
There are a couple of things you’ll need to provide yourself….stuffing, as I don’t want to waste precious space in the box. I use old pillows or cushions for this, just put them through the wash, dry them and then cut the cover down one side and you have a handy bag of stuffing ready to go! You’ll also need some brown cotton thread, which I think most of us crafters have tucked away at home. The last thing you’ll need is a cereal packet to form the base of your Christmas tree. The base for Santa is formed from your box mailer so make sure you don’t throw that away! Don’t worry…there will be a template in the box).
Because of the quality of the yarn in this box, I’m afraid he’s a bit more expensive than usual. To try to help with this we are launching early and are even offering a payment plan spread over 7 months, interest free of course!
We’re also showing you lots of sneak peeks as we understand that it’s a lot of money to spend on something you haven’t seen. And I’m showing you my very own Woodland Santa, so that you can see where the inspiration came from.
Loads of love and hugs, Amanda xxxxx

International orders please read carefully: we always welcome international orders but remind you that any taxes or duties due are the buyer’s responsibility.
